What is eLVT?

eLVT: Electronic Learning and Vision Therapy

In traditional therapeutic models, parents interrupt their work and school schedules and drive to clinics during the daytime. Clinicians for their part must have space and employ a number of staff to manage inventories and therapeutic programs. Delivered this way, therapy is inconvenient and expensive. It is emotionally prohibitive for most people and the stress of managing schedules leads to decreased efficacy of therapy.

eLVT represents a leap in availability of professionally-guided therapy for

• neurosensory-rehabilitation,

• remediation of learning and reading disorders, and

• the development of highly-efficient visual skills.

eLVT is not do-it-yourself therapy, but rather requires the supervision and guidance of an authorized therapeutic care professional. The service provides all the necessary tools and educational materials required to assist therapists and parents to deliver therapy at home or on-location in schools and clinics, under professional guidance. Because much of what occurs in therapy is the therapist modeling behavior to the child, parent, or adult client, with network-assisted delivery and monitoring, many fewer visits to the clinic are required and are generally brief. Some elements of therapy can be monitored remotely via access to online performance data and communications tools.

eLVT provides a medium through which users can easily locate exercises, and instructional downloads, audio, and video. It also contains references and background information, in addition to collaborative tools allowing users to share information and seek support.

Computer-Mediated Learning and Vision Therapy: Unique in the World

While our methods are proven and the best alternative or adjunct to medication, vision and learning therapy is typically too inconvenient and too costly for most people.

eLVT: We have developed a model, using advanced digital technology, to deliver therapy to more people at a much lower price. We do this by training people to work with children locally, removing the need for hours of clinic time and travel. In the end, therapy takes place in the home or at school at times most convenient to children and their families.

Electronically-mediated therapy includes all the resources needed to train local specialists or even parents to deliver therapy to their children. This way, only minimal visits to the doctor and clinic are required. While we use technology to train therapists and monitor progress, each therapeutic program is tailored and monitored on an individual basis.

Proven Methods

Our methods are founded in current research and past proven techniques that serve to strengthen key skill areas for learning in today’s traditional classrooms. We employ many principles and techniques used by therapists in occupational and physical therapy, neuro-rehabilitation, education, and behavioural optometry including use of orthoptics. Dr. Boulet’s background in Education, Neuroscience, and Optometry are uniquely suited to address issues in a manner few others can.

We develop individualized programs to correct and bolster the following areas:

  • • Visual Signal Acquisition – required for finding and targeting information on a page.
  • • Visual Signal Processing – makes sense of images presented to the brain.
  • • Reading Comprehension – low-level and high-level reading skills that impact through conscious and sub-conscious (physiologic) processes.
  • • Self-awareness / Self-control – a solid foundation in self-awareness is critical in establishing a strong skills in goal-directed attentive behaviour.
  • • Nutrition / Health – at the core of healthy and strong learners is good food and all the health benefits it brings.
  • • Motor Control / Balance: This is critical in developing strong academic skills. We provide some guidance for training in this area, and will refer to Occupational Therapy or other specialties or activities to strengthen and bolster these skills.
