‘Eye Exams’ are not what they used to be. These days, modern optometry graduates have extensive specialty training in visual anatomy & physiology, pathology, and therapeutic treatment of disease and behavioural issues such as reading disorders, strabismus, and many more.
While optometrists will frequently recommend lenses (glasses and/or contact) for their patients, this represents only a small part of what we do. If a family practitioner prescribes pills for a throat infection, this does not mean that’s all he does.
