This is a great exercise to build word and reading awareness and is appropriate for even early readers, so long as the reading material is suitable to skill level. Apell reading is essentially ‘highly aware’ reading, that is, you take your time and really plan your reading.
This, like 149 Rehearsal Reading, is a high-level reading drill; remember to included activities in your training sessions that include both high-level reading activities, and other activities that serve to build skills underlying reading (visual perceptual and visual motor).
